Trends for 2010!
Are you wondering what interior trends are in store for 2010? Well, one thing is for sure and that is whatever was in style in the fashion world last year will always eventually make its way into our interiors the following year….so get ready for greenamania!
If you’re sick of hearing about “going green” then grab some ear muffs because it isn’t going anywhere. For the past decade we have being hearing this phrase used more and more frequently as each year passes, but more so now than ever has it really hit home with many. With the sluggish economy many people have found “going green” not only to be eco-friendly, but a big $$ saver as well. Whether it be the fuel efficient car you drive or the recycled cloth bag you shop with, greenamania has made its way into your life at some point and will continue to do so.
Color: Since more and more products are being made from natural, recycled and organic materials we’ll be seeing a lot of earth tone dominated color pallets with punches of rich accents colors. Earthy greens, stimulating yellows, vibrant oranges and rich purples would all be great accent color choices for 2010. Just remember to be careful how you use them because sometimes too much of a good thing can be bad.
Furniture: Mix and Re-purpose! The key with mixing furniture is to tie everything together with different textiles and accessories in the room, not matching furniture. If you are starting from scratch and have no idea where to start, just take it one step at a time. Start with one piece of furniture you really love and build from that. Most people think everything has to match and that is not the case. My number one rule is to never buy furniture that comes in a set….its boring. Antiques or re-purposing and painting an old piece of furniture are great ways to add some character to a space. Antique values are down making the prices very low, so take advantage and add a piece or two with some new furniture… have fun with 2010.
